We are here to:

1. Develop a deeper understanding of what it means to integrate the 8 Standards for Mathematical Practice into your classroom instruction in ways that develop skills in your students. :)

2. Develop a deeper understanding of how the 8 SMP will be assessed along the with the Content Standards.

3. Tammy Jo shares, "It is okay if you did not take part one of SMP. Vicki and June designed this so we all can participate and learn about the eight SMP."

Before we begin, let's introduce ourselves... and establish group norms.

How many of us do a circle time? Small group time? A time when students share their ideas?
Will Tammy Jo use a timer today? To stay on task... We will see!

Tammy Jo's Favorite Resources to access after this workshop:

http://www.dpi.state.nc.us/acre/standards/common-core-tools/ This site shares how the eight Standards of Mathematical Practice looks and sounds like at each grade level. You have to find your grade level and click on it. A PDF. file will come up. This PDF will have the SMP somewhere close to the beginning of each grade level's content standards.

For grades Pre-K to 2 teachers:

(These are comprehensive. Try to not feel overwhelmed as you read them. I used to get overwhelmed, but now it is making more and more sense on how to use performance assessments. These are great examples.)
